SUMMARY:32-Hour Supported Scaffold Installer & Remover (Hybrid)
DESCRIPTION:During this course students will explore New York City Construction Codes and OSHA Regulations as they pertain to the supervision of suspended scaffolds. Participants will learn the most current suspended scaffold standards and will receive guidance on how to read scaffold design drawings\, how to verify the fitness of the rigging crew\, properly train workers on related hazards\, and how to identify and respond to emergency situations. This course will include a hands-on portion where students will learn and apply rope knots\, terminate wire rope\, build a block and tackle system\, effectively install fall protection systems\, and inspect/maintain different types of scaffold hoist motors. As a result\, construction workers must have fall protection when working at a height of six feet or more. In addition\, employers must provide a Fall Protection training program to all construction workers who might be exposed to fall hazards. This course describes the standards\, hazards\, and hazard controls that can be used to protect the health and safety of construction workers. This course will provide the participants with an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection and current OSHA requirements\, including the principles of fall protection\, the components of fall arrest systems\, the limitations of fall arrest equipment\, and OSHA policies regarding fall protection. DESCRIPTION:Course Description: According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Heath\, the construction industry has the highest workplace drug use. Substance abuse is a factor in 35 percent of injuries and fatalities\, 35 percent of all substances\, 38 percent to 50 percent of all worker’s compensation claims\, and 40 percent of thefts. Substance abuse is increasing those risks which affect overall job safety and work efficiency. Substance abuse includes\, but is not limited to the use of marijuana\, heroin\, ecstasy\, methamphetamine\, cocaine\, opiates\, amphetamine\, and high amounts of alcohol.
